Las Posadas 2022

Saturday, December 10, 2022

@ 10 am

Corner of Diversey Ave. and Leavitt St.

As another winter begins, the Chicago Housing Authority continues to neglect 11 vacant Lathrop buildings south of Diversey.

Once again, promises are broken.
Once again, there’s no room at the CHA inn.

The 10th annual Las Posadas* procession is returning to the place where it began in 2013 – the Lathrop Homes.

JOIN US on Saturday, December 10, as we follow Mary and Joseph on their search for shelter. The procession will begin at 10 AM at the corner of Leavitt & Diversey. We will make brief stops along the way and conclude for a call to action and refreshments at the Gantz Boys and Girls Club, 2915 N. Leavitt.

The Las Posadas procession is sponsored by the Logan Square Ecumenical Alliance in cooperation with the Preserve Lathrop Campaign and Palenque-LSNA.

The LSEA includes churches from various denominations.  People of all faiths, or of no affiliation, are welcome to participate!

* Las Posadas is a Latin American pre-Christmas tradition which reenacts the story of Mary and Joseph's search for shelter in Bethlehem.  At each stop, the couple is turned away until the last stop, where they are welcomed with a celebration.
